Here’s this week’s report on what arrived from Farmers Fresh.
The sight of onions, apples, potatoes, lettuce, and spinach all together made me wonder if fall had arrived.
The answer… definitely not.
And check out the yardlong beans!
Because these are Asian in origin, most of the recipes I’ve found for them seem to be about stir-fries. But I think I’ll Southern-cook at least half of them and see how that works.
Check out the fruit dessert-making binge I’ve been on this week.
And I made a good-sized store order.
I like catnip tea at night with a little honey. I think it helps me fall asleep. A little lemon verbena helps with the strongish catnip flavor.
Had to get extra field peas while they’re to be had! The sausage was on sale.
I’m going to make muscadine jelly with the muscadines. I did that last year and loved it. I used the jelly to make vinaigrettes and really yummy sandwiches. It’s like grape jelly that’s not offensively sweet.
I was smack out of honey and rice. We don’t eat a lot of rice, so I’m okay with splurging on the good stuff. (Have to stick with grocery store pasta, though.)
Enjoy your food!
