Last Saturday I went to the Cotton Mill Farmers’ Market in downtown Carrollton. It wasn’t very busy because of the holiday weekend, so even though I was late I still got some nice stuff.
From Terry of Sparkleberry Farms, I bought peapods.
From Bryan of Crager-Hager Farm, I bought sorrel and green garlic.
From Jacque and Nancy of Red Hott Tomatoes, I bought radishes.
Red Hott Tomatoes is licensed to sell unpasteurized goats’ milk for animal use, and I bought two gallons. I live in the woods, see, and we have chipmunks and raccoons and who knows what else. Never know when we might need to nurse a little critter.
When I got home from the market, however, there were no mammalian orphans in sight. So I poured myself a glass and made cheese instead. Some of you may have inner children. I have an inner pet…
My inner kitty loves that pet milk, too 😉 I’m making mozzarella this weekend.
Ooh, ooh! Try marinating some of it in good olive oil for a few hours with a little salt.
They do that at La Pietra Cucina in midtown, and it is crazy delicious on bread.
