Here’s what came from Farmers’ Fresh this week.
Strawberries make life good. Especially when they look like cartoon whales.
Fresh peas are very tasty. Just shell, steam, and serve. Add a little parsley or mint on top if you’ve got it.
This is an interesting collection of radishes: French breakfast radishes, salad cherry radishes, and is that a baby Daikon?
These green beans are lovely. You could cook them into some beautiful fancy dish, but I’m just going to simmer them to death with a splash of olive oil.
Dandelion greens are said to be very nutritious. We’ll have ours sautéed with raisins and walnuts.
Par-cel is handy. It has a strong celery taste that makes it good in lots of different dishes – salads, casseroles, tomato sauce, and more. Keep it in little glasses of water covered in plastic in the fridge, and it will last a couple of weeks, too.
The Thai cilantro-curry paste looks delicious. But this is the kind of thing I have to eat when Chris is far away. (He doesn’t like Thai food, cilantro, or curry.) I’m planning on poaching some shrimp in it and serving it over rice noodles.
I’m going to serve this beef cooked with some Taco Spice I’ve been hoarding from an earlier delivery. It’s a dry, sweet spice and not that hot. I’m not sure if we will make actual tacos, though. We may end with more of a casserole or a hash.
I ordered this jar of honey from the store for tea and peanut butter sandwiches. Mmm…. honey.
Enjoy your food!
