Here’s this week’s haul.
- ground beef
- Chinese cabbage
I’ve got a back log in my fridge, so the beef’s going in the freezer for future deliciousness. Unless we make cabbage wraps with the Chinese cabbage and need some spicy beef to go inside. Hmmm…
- garlic scapes
- corn grits
- summer squash!
I’m going to have a garlic pesto competition between these scapes and some green garlic I picked up at the Cotton Mill Farmers’ Market in Carrollton last Saturday. Who will be the big winner? Chris, who loves all things garlic.
I love these grits, but I don’t see getting to them this week. You can cook a bunch at once on a slow weekend morning and then reheat them all week. Also, make sure to store these (and all the whole grains from Farmers’ Fresh) in the fridge or freezer.
The squash is exciting. We’ll have two rounds of stir-fried squash with CSA onions, butter, and cornmeal.
- peaches!
- broccoli
- lettuce
I plan on making peach muffins this weekend and steaming the broccoli. The lettuce is a variety I don’t remember having before. I like it a lot, and it’s great on sandwiches.
- tomato
Here’s a picture of some completely-CSA sandwiches we had last night.
Chris loved them. What is it with guys and sandwiches?
Finally, here’s what I bought from the online store:
- bread
- chamomile, lemon balm tea in individual bunches with tea bags
Bread’s terrific. I froze half of it for another time. I had planned to make some bread after reading about bread adventures at Kitchen Kung Fu. But for now, I’m content to let Magnolia Bread Company do it.
It’s nice to have the tea in bunches so you know how much to use. I’ve already used up two of them and plan to enjoy another later this afternoon. In the afternoons, I always want tea but should drink water. Herbal tea’s great because it’s warm and sippy like tea and hydrating like water.
