Here’s what came this week!
- Komatsuna
- cilantro
- a cute little pumpkin
- 2 kinds of hydroponic lettuce
- 3 daikon radishes
- 6 peppers
- loose leaf lettuce (This is about half of what we got Wednesday. We’ve been busy!)
- green onions
- half dozen eggs
- 4 apples (2 were already gone by the time I took this picture. And they’re all gone now.)
- potatoes
I also ordered some garlic from the online store.
This week’s plan
Does anyone remember the kid’s book Bunnicula? It was about a pet rabbit who was kind of a vampire and sucked all the color out of the family’s vegetables. The daikon radishes look like Bunniculized carrots to me.
Some of the daikons, Komatsuna, green onions and garlic and possibly the cilantro and peppers will go in a stir-fry recipe I’m going to try tonight. The sauce is a mix of peanut butter, soy sauce, ginger, and crushed red pepper.
I’m also going to slice the smallest one thinly and add it to salads. Daikons have a stronger taste that other radishes, but I figure we’ll try.
I’m going to bake and load up the potatoes with green onions, cheese, bacon and sour cream for lunch.
And we’re going to try to make Chicken Francese with 4 of the eggs. Then again, the other night, we had some of the little eggs scrambled with cheese, and they were so good! Makes you wonder why do anything else.
I’m hoping the cute little pumpkin can be cooked like the acorn squash, but I’m not in a rush to do it because the acorn squash made it 5 weeks and was still delicious. So I’m focusing on the greens now and figuring the squash can be saved for later this month.
Oh my gosh – Bunnicula! Yes!
