Hi, Melanie,
Thanks for checking in! :) Everything is great, but I've had to stop blogging. My work picked up, and I found myself dreading Wednesdays and feeling guilty about not blogging enough or on time. It was a big relief when I stopped. Five years was long enough. Maybe I'll get back in one day. I still adore local food and am still a Farmers Fresh customer!
I hope all is well with you!

Hi, Bernie - Jambalaya is the perfect place for these sausages! I cooked them last night with a brown/wild rice pilaf. It was good, but the Poblano flavor of the sausage is much more suited to jambalaya.

Hi, Leonie!
Thanks for stopping by and making my day! I haven't had a lot of time recently to spend on this site, so it's nice to hear that the older posts remain useful and interesting.
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it's a wonderful thing. There's a good description of the concept at http://www.localharvest.org/csa/.
Being aware of the seasons and the food available seasonally is one of the best parts of eating locally. So it's cool to think that fall is underway for you. I wish you many delicious apples!

Hi Susan, Leonie here from the far South - ..... Australia that is ! I found your website somehow by good fortune and having been enjoying it very much. Your story about how you came to enjoy eating veges is inspiring. I need to get on board too and sharpen up my act. The CSA deal sounds interesting - something I wish we had around here. I haven't read everything yet, and haven't come across what CSA stands for. But I'm looking forward to trying out your recipe ideas, and making beet kvass too! You have a fun, entertaining and engaging way of presenting your ideas and information, yet it also comes across as being very professional as a foundation to it all. You've obviously put an awful lot of work into the project. Thanks again for all your great information shared ..... best wishes, Leonie

Mmmm. Hope there is a tomato in our box this week. We received squash, spinach, lettuce, broccoli, pecans and blueberries last week. We steamed the squash and broccoli for Sunday lunch..delicious. I have been eating the lettuce and spinach in salads as my husband isn't big on raw spinach. May have to cook the rest down for a pasta dish as you mention above. Looking forward to this week's box.

Hello, Joy,
I like sorrel as it is. It's got a strong lemony-tangy taste. So try it first and see what you think. You can mix it with lettuce for a twist. My favorite is wrapped around some goat cheese with some chilled beets. See the bottom of this post - http://wp.me/pkwdh-tK. You can also make sauce from sorrel. Just search online for a recipe.
And here's a post about the way we always cook our kale - http://thoughtfulconsumption.com/2010/12/01/fall-meals-i-greens-winter-squash-and-lo-mein/

Hope this helps!

I just signed up today for my first box. I am excited to see what all will be in the box tomorrow. From the listing posted, it looks like Sorrel and Kale will be part of the box this week. Can you make suggestions on how to use these items?
